Did you know that the skin is the largest organ on the body and accounts for most of the body’s absorption of everyday toxins into the bloodstream? Beauty products on the market today contain over 5000 different toxic chemicals like artificial colors and fillers that can cause skin disorders like skin cancer and may build up in the organs such as the liver and stay in the body for years, damage skin and also pollute the air. Many companies disguise the true nature of the toxic chemicals used in their products. The average person applies up to 200 toxic chemicals to their skin everyday through cosmetics, lotions and hair-care products. By using our all natural beauty products, you can eliminate these harmful chemicals and replace them with nature’s own ingredients that not only protect you from harm, but can even be beneficial to your hair, skin and body.

Common skin conditions 101

Dry Skin

Dry skin is an uncomfortable condition marked by scaling, itching, and cracking. It can occur for a variety of reasons. Some people have naturally dry skin and may experience frequent symptoms. However, even the oiliest skin can get dry at times. Skin dryness can occur on any part of the body, but it is most common on the legs, arms, and abdominal area. If lifestyle changes fail to improve your symptoms, you should contact a doctor for a medical evaluation. There are also certain medical conditions that cause dry skin, and while these are more difficult to treat, they're also quite rare most cases of dry skin are caused by controllable factors. The elderly are more likely to develop dry skin. As you age, your pores naturally produce less oil. Dry skin is also more common during the fall and winter months, when the relative humidity levels are low. Humidity adds moisture in the air, which helps prevent your skin from drying out. Many people experience dryer skin during these times of low humidity, compared to in the summer, when humidity levels are usually high. Taking frequent baths also raises your risk of having dry skin. Still, dry skin can affect anyone at any age, and during any time of the year. Dry skin can typically be prevented, but it's also easy to treat if your skin is already dry and cracked. You can solve dry skin problem by simply using a moisturizer. VNTG Boutique Miracle Butter, Miracle Oil, Cup of Morning Scrub and our Lazy Lavender Scrub all help improve dry skin.

5.   Moisturize skin at least twice a day or more.

6.   Use a humidifier to keep the air in your home or office moist.

7.    Drink plenty of water.

Oily skin

Oily skin is shiny, thick and dull colored. Often a chronically oily skin has coarse pores and pimples and other embarrassing blemishes. It is prone to blackheads. In this type of skin, the oil producing sebaceous glands are overactive and produce more oil than is needed. The oil oozes and gives the skin a greasy shine. The pores are enlarged and the skin has a coarse look. There are a number of factors that contribute towards oily skin and it is usually more apparent in teenagers as their hormones change. However, as well as hormones, it can also sometimes be hereditary, down to the cosmetics which you use, or it could even be down to the contraceptive pill. The flow of sebum or oil increases during adolescence and starts decreasing with age. During pregnancy and menopause, hormonal imbalances can also upset the oil balance and increase the activity of sebaceous glands. Many people have skin that is oily only in certain areas and dry or normal in others, a condition known as combination skin. Generally it can occur at any age, but usually skin tends to become dryer the older you are. You can't prevent your sebaceous glands from producing oil, but that doesn't mean you have to walk around with a shiny face either. Oily skin can be controlled you just have to learn how to do it. By making a few small changes to your daily skin care routine and avoiding some common mistakes, you can take control of your oily skin. VNTG Boutique Miracle Butter, Miracle Oil, Cup of Morning Scrub and our Lazy Lavender Scrub all help improve oily skin conditions.

Care and Treatment

If you have oily skin, it may seem like a good idea to wash your face more often, but this could just make matters worse. When your skin is irritated, your body's natural reaction is to produce more oil, so if you start washing too much, your skin will dry out and your sebaceous glands will go into overdrive.

1.   Keep face clean by applying Flawless Face Scrub to face 1-3 times a week. Over-exfoliating may cause skin damage.

2.  Apply Miracle Butter or Miracle Oil to face at night to treat skin conditions, even skin tone, reduce fine lines and to hydrate skin. Did you know: Contrary to conventional wisdom, many essential oils actually control excess facial oil and help treat pimples. Some of them work by balancing your skin's oil production, while others tone, soothe and tighten skin.

3.   Drink plenty of water.

4.   Avoid drinking caffeine.

5.   Watch what you put in your hair.

Eczema

Eczema is a medical condition in which patches of skin become rough and inflamed, with blisters that cause itching and bleeding, sometimes resulting from a reaction to irritation but more typically having no obvious external cause.  No matter which part of the skin is affected, eczema is almost always itchy . Sometimes the itching will start before the rash appears, but when it does, the rash most commonly appears on the face, back of the knees, wrists, hands, or feet . It may also affect other areas as well. Affected areas usually appear very dry, thickened, or scaly. In fair-skinned people, these areas may initially appear reddish and then turn brown. Among darker-skinned people, eczema can affect pigmentation, making the affected area lighter or darker. It can be worsened with exposure to external or environmental factors such as pollen or pet hair, and internal factors such as hormone levels and stress. Eczema affects about 10-20 percent of infants and about 3 percent of adults and children in the U.S. Most infants who develop the condition outgrow it by their tenth birthday, while some people continue to have symptoms on and off throughout life. With proper treatment eczema can often be controlled. VNTG Boutique Miracle Butter, Miracle Oil, Cup of Morning Scrub and our Lazy Lavender Scrub all help improve the appearance of eczema.

Acne

Acne is a skin disease that involves the oil glands at the base of hair follicles, characterized by red pimples on the face. In humans, pimples tend to appear on the face, back, chest, shoulders and neck.  Acne can come in many forms. Whiteheads and blackheads are the most commonly known; nodular and cystic acne are more severe because they form deep in the skin and can cause scars. It commonly occurs during puberty when the sebaceous (oil) glands come to life the glands are stimulated by male hormones produced by the adrenal glands of both males and females. In adolescence, acne is usually caused by an increase in androgens such as testosterone, which occurs during puberty, regardless of sex . For most people, acne diminishes over time and tends to disappear or decreases by age 25. There is, however, no way to predict how long it will take to disappear entirely, and some individuals will carry this condition well into their thirties, forties, and beyond. With proper treatment, acne can be controlled. VNTG Boutique Flawless Face Scrub will help improve the condition of acne.

Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a dry, scaly skin disorder. Doctors believe that it is genetic and is caused by the immune system being mistakenly "triggered", resulting in skin cells being produced too quickly. Normally, skin cells take about 21-28 days to replace themselves. However, in patients with psoriasis they take around 2-6 days. Psoriasis affects approximately 3% of people globally and usually develops in patients between age 11 and age 45.  Symptoms of psoriasis include constant shedding of dead cells. However, due to the acceleration of the replacement process, both dead and live cells accumulate on the skin surface. Often this causes red, flaky, crusty patches covered with silvery scales, which are shed easily. Psoriasis can occur on any part of the body although it is most commonly found on the elbows, knees, lower back and the scalp. It can also cause intense itching and burning. With proper treatment psoriasis can be controlled. VNTG Boutique Miracle Butter, Miracle Oil, Cup of Morning Scrub, Lazy Lavender Scrub, Stimulating Wash and Lazy Lavender Wash all help improve the appearance of psoriasis.
